After finishing third in the overall standings of the Italian Road Championship in Darfo Boario Terme and wearing the national jersey for the U23 national champion, Eleonora Ciabocco is preparing to participate in the Giro d'Italia Women which will start on Sunday from Bergamo with an individual time trial of 14.2 kilometers.
Already a protagonist at the Tour de Suisse Women (finishing tenth overall and second in the young riders' classification, ed.), the 21-year-old from Marche will lead, together with Marta Cavalli, the Picnic PostNL Team in the eight stages that will characterize the "pink race" 2025. "We will try to focus on the general classification with Marta and Eleonora. The time trial in Bergamo will shape the classification, but I think the major time gaps will be seen in the last three stages (those ending in Orciano di Pesaro, Monte Nerone, and Imola, ed.)" said coach Callum Ferguson while presenting the team and their ambitions for the 2025 Giro d'Italia Women.
Alongside the two general classification riders will also be the rider from Ossola, Francesca Barale, who finished second at the U23 Italian Championship held on Saturday. The selection of the German team for the Giro is completed by the British trio composed of Josie Nelson, Becky Storrie, and Pfeiffer Georgi as well as the American Megan Jastrab who will have the task of seeking results in stages with sprint finishes.
"The Giro d'Italia Women comes at a good moment for us, everyone is very motivated and the morale is high within the group. Of course, it's always a tough race, especially with the heat at this time of year, but we have a well-balanced team that I'm confident can perform well," emphasized coach Ferguson.
