After many years of absence from the calendar, it has now returned. The "Day with Luca" - paired with the "1st Angelo Brignole Memorial" - organized on Sunday in Borzonasca by Freeride Tigullio with the collaboration of Geo Davidson Rapallo, returned to remember Luca Melis and Samuele Privitera, both victims of an accident while doing what they loved most: cycling.

Around seventy Juniors from different regions of Italy honored the event and the memory of Luca and Samuele by challenging each other over the 61 kilometers scheduled, at the end of which Mattia Moretti, from Piedmont and riding for Gabetti Ardens Cycling Team, conquered the victory ahead of Salvatore Caruso, from Equipe Sicilia Giusfredi Mille Luci, and Elia Caorsi, representing Team Più Sport Levante, who secured third place and the title of Liguria regional champion.

After the race, there was no formal ceremony, only a simple award presentation to the participants, a choice that the organizers had communicated in advance on social media: "Life goes on, races will continue... everything will proceed even if our feelings are different from what we would have wanted. In line with the above, in the spirit of mourning that has struck cycling, especially in Liguria, our race will begin with a minute of silence, and the usual protocol ceremonies will be cancelled."

On the sidelines of the race, the organizers thanked all participants and volunteers who made the event possible, proudly emphasizing that the great teamwork allowed the successful execution of the event and assuring their intention to do even better next year.

Luca Raggio, president of the Ligurian regional committee of the Italian Cycling Federation, then declared to tuttobiciweb microphones: "I am happy and proud that Liguria once again has a race for the Junior category and that on Sunday the regional champion jersey was awarded. Bringing youth cycling back to our region is one of the primary objectives of my commitment as president, I am here for this and I thank all the people who help me."

And further: "These days have not been easy, Privitera's loss was a hard blow for everyone. But we all worked to do our best, remembering our friends. Samuele would have been happy about this race, like all of us, I am sure. In May, I had anticipated to him that the event would be organized and would be the Junior regional championship, he was happy about the news."
