Professional cycling closes the season in Veneto with a Scandinavian touch of class: Sakarias Loland (UNO-X Mobility) wins the Veneto Classic 2025, imposing himself in a tight sprint after an intense and selective race, ahead of Belgian Florian Vermeersch (UAE Team Emirates XKG) and Italian Diego Ulissi (XDS Astana Team).
Bassano del Grappa, a historic Venetian city and treasure trove of cultural beauty, was painted in a thousand colors and enthusiasm for the arrival of the professional race that closes the international cycling season. Starting from the wine oasis of Soave, the event traversed a severe and fascinating route, with climbs, gravel roads, and hundreds of thousands of passionate fans who transformed the streets into a long popular celebration.
The Veneto Classic represents the pinnacle of a pyrotechnic cycling week conceived by Filippo Pozzato, capable of bringing great cycling back to the heart of Veneto. From the Giro del Veneto, with the finish in Verona signed by young Mexican Isaac Del Toro, to the Serenissima Gravel in Cittadella - where Belgian Quinten Hermans set the white roads on fire, traveling on gravel at over 50 km/h - the region lived days of sport, passion, and dust, amid applause and landscapes that framed an unforgettable season finale.
THE RACE. 140 riders start this great cycling day. From the first kilometers, a sustained pace is perceived: about 15 km from the start, the group begins to stretch, and a breakaway of 20 men forms, quickly gaining ground on the main peloton.
For most of the race, the breakaway intelligently manages their advantage, collaborating effectively and maintaining a steady pace. 59 km from the finish, the leaders who have been prominent from the beginning remain in command: Sakarias Loland and Fredrick Dversnes (UNO-X Mobility), Davide De Pretto (Jayco AlUla), Nickolas Zukowsky (Q36.5), Xandro Meurisse (Alpecin-Deceuninck), Dylan Teuns (Cofidis), Lorenzo Germani (Groupama-FDJ), Diego Ulissi and Mattia Negrente (XDS Astana), Florian Vermeersch (UAE Team Emirates XKG), Antonio Eric Fagundez Lima (Burgos-Burpellet-BL), Mikel Retegui Goñi (Kern Pharma), Mattia Gaffuri (Polti-Kometa), Kevin Pezzo Rosola (General Store) and Matteo Ambrosini (MBH Bank Ballan).
In the tough Tisa section, on the third passage, the race's head breaks into two groups, with the main peloton chasing about two minutes behind. On the last passage, 30 km from the finish, a third group of chasers forms, but the eleven strongest remain at the front, including the names that will animate the finale.
On the Diesel Farm, the race's symbolic climb, Diego Ulissi sets the pace and further selects the group. Loland, Germani, Vermeersch, and Ulissi himself remain in the race for victory, ready to play everything in the finale.
In an explosive sprint on the straight of Bassano del Grappa, Sakarias Loland imposes his power and conquers victory, giving UNO-X Mobility a prestigious success and spectacularly closing the international cycling season. For the 24-year-old Norwegian from UnoX, who grew up in the team's youth system and reached the top category in 2024, this is his first professional victory. For the Italians, Lorenzo Germani of Groupama FDJ and Davide De Pretto of Jayco Alula are immediately behind the podium.
