The course is 200 kilometers long, running from Busto to the heart of Varese. The route's novelties include the "mythical" Ronchi climb that goes from the lakeside of Schiranna to Varese's city center - the same climb from the 2008 World Championships - and the so-called Five Plants climb from Gavirate's Oltrona district, leading to the steep section in Barasso that ends in front of the Municipal Building, with a final uphill section passing through Luvinate and Casciago. The finish line remains confirmed on Via Sacco, in front of the Varese City Hall. This is the same route scheduled last year, which was prematurely canceled due to adverse weather conditions.
In the men's race, as previously announced, the current world champion and new European champion Tadej Pogacar will undoubtedly be the most anticipated athlete. UAE Team Emirates XRG will also field Mexican rider Isaac Del Toro. Two-time world champion Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) will also be present in Varese. Red Bull – Bora – Hansgrohe will field Primoz Roglic, winner of the 2023 Giro d'Italia and four-time Vuelta a España champion, along with young Italian rider Giulio Pellizzari. Also notable are Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain Victorious) and Italian champion Filippo Conca (Team Jayco AlUla).
