An incredible finale at the Czech Tour 2025. Cian Uijtdebroeks, white jersey and third in the general classification, had attacked 4000 meters from the finish line, carving out a significant gap between himself and his rivals. However, when the Belgian from Visma Lease a Bike seemed poised for victory in the final stage, he was caught and overtaken by Jannis Peter, a German from Team Vorarlberg who crossed the finish line in Pustevny with joy. The completely opposite emotion was evident on the face of the Visma Lease a Bike Belgian, who finished second, ahead of the overall general classification leader Junior Lecerf, a 22-year-old from Soudal Quick-Step who was crowned the race's final winner. On the Czech Tour podium, Alessandro Fancellu from Team Ukyo also finished third, 8" behind Lecerf; positive notes also for Solution Tech - Vini Fantini, placing Lorenzo Quartucci in sixth place in the time classification.
The stage came to life thanks to the attack of a group composed of the Ligurian - mountain classification leader - Nicolò Garibbo (Team UKYO), the Czechs Šimon Vaníček (ATT Investments), Michal Schuran (Team United Shipping) and Michael Boroš (Elkov – Kasper), Austrian Dominik Amann (Team Vorarlberg), Polish rider Patryk Stosz (Voster ATS Team), Australian Liam Walsh (CCACHE x BODYWRAP), Luxembourg's Loïc Bettendorff (Hrinkow Advarics) and Dutch rider Michiel van Vliet (Metec - SOLARWATT p/b Mantel). With 40 kilometers to go, yesterday's winner Liam Walsh broke away from this group, then was joined by Bettendorff and van Vliet who launched a pursuit, distancing Garibbo and his former adventure companions.
The group came back together at the foot of the final climb when XDS Astana and Team Visma | Lease a Bike riders caught and forced Bettendorff and van Vliet back into the ranks, with the latter being the last to surrender.
With a progression at the -5 KM to finish marker, 21-year-old William Smith (Visma Lease a Bike) took a slight lead and prepared the attack for his team captain Cian Uijtdebroeks, who opened up 4000 meters from the finish, immediately followed by Como's Fancellu and Lecerf.
