We wish him to go down in history for much more important achievements, but for now Oscar Riesebeek has a small record: he is the first rider to receive two yellow cards for the same infraction and therefore to undergo a one-week stop.
It happened at the Tour of Belgium: the thirty-two-year-old Dutch rider from Alpecin Deceuninck had been sanctioned in the second stage for using "sidewalks/pavements, paths or cycle paths" or everything that is not a roadway. And yesterday, in the final stage, he made the same mistake again: three kilometers from the finish, he tried to rejoin the group by using the cycle path on the left side of the road to position himself for his captain Philipsen, attempted to get back in but crashed into a Ineos rider and fell heavily to the ground. A bad crash that forced him to retire. But in addition to bruises and contusions at the end of the race, he also received the sanction of a second yellow card and an automatic one-week suspension.
The UCI regulations also provide for exclusion from the race, but in this case it was not applied because Riesebeek had already retired due to the crash.
