All roads lead to Rome. And all roads start from Rome. Like these: two bike rides, two departures and one arrival. Two different departures. The arrival, identical. Same day, same times. A double route from one side of Rome to the other, connecting center and periphery.
This is the idea conceived by Fernanda Pessolano for the Ti con Zero association, included in the event "At the End of the City 2025 - Explorations", wanted by Roma Capitale - Culture Department, to centrifuge attention, cultural and - why not? - touristic, on beauties, treasures, ideas, from history to geography, from sciences to entertainment, from art to sport, moving it from the center to the periphery. Convinced that only by networking among territorial forces, and not dividing, isolating, splitting the minimal quotas of members and cardholders, friends and acquaintances, cyclists and wanderers, on Sunday, June 15th, Pessolano involved two Roman Fiab associations.
Fiab Roma Ruota Libera organizes the bike ride from Ponte Milvio to Isola Farnese (guided by Massimo Tartaglia), with a visit to the exhibition "The Stones of Rome" at Torretta Valadier: departure at 9 from Ponte Milvio, length 38 km, medium difficulty, uphill elevation 330 meters, return by train from Olgiata station on the Viterbo-Rome line, for information tel. 3497217191.
Fiab Roma BiciLiberaTutti organizes "The Romea Strata" from Anguillara to Isola Farnese (guided by Cesare Albanese): departure at 9:15 from Anguillara station (on the Rome-Viterbo railway line), length 39 km, medium difficulty with white roads, elevation 350 meters, packed lunch, for information tel. 3358304471.
Fiab (Italian Federation for Bicycle Environment), as stated in the first article of its statute, "has no profit purposes and intends to pursue exclusively social solidarity purposes". Among the association's objectives are the protection and enhancement of nature and the environment within sustainable mobility policies. In particular, the association "promotes bicycle use, proposes and helps implement measures to encourage cycling mobility, develop road safety for so-called vulnerable road users and protect their rights".
The territory explored by the two bike rides is that of Municipality XV. "Our 'At the End of the City' event - explains Pessolano - is therefore an itinerary and journey, trajectory and adventure, where the end is just a point of view: offshoots, prostheses, tentacles of neighborhoods, naturalistic areas, archaeological areas of volcanic eruptions, water flows, banks and embankments, sanctuaries and churches, modern and ancient paths". An opportunity, indeed, two extraordinary opportunities, to enjoy Rome in silent, clean and fast slowness.
