TROFEO TRIVENETO. FILIPPO FONTANA AND GAIA SANTIN SIGN THE FINAL STAGE

After the great enthusiasm of the 2024 edition, yesterday the 32nd Meschio Cyclocross - 2nd Daniele De Re Memorial was held in Ponte della Muda, a fraction of the municipality of Cordignano. Perfect organization from all perspectives by Team Bosco Orsago in collaboration with the Pro Ponte association. This event was organized for 30 editions, from 1971 to 2000. In the past, this cyclocross was held in February, after the world championships, and called all the greatest Italian interpreters, including world champions Vito Di Tano, Daniele Pontoni, and the late Vittoriese Renato Longo. It was the Saint Valentine's cyclocross and always coincided with the local patron saint's feast, precisely Saint Valentine.
Daniele De Re was remembered again this year, an eighteen-year-old from Cordignano who passed away almost 18 months ago. Daniele raced with Team Bosco Orsago. It was also an opportunity to remember Sara Piffer, a nineteen-year-old Trentino cyclist who died a few days ago in a terrible road accident. A minute of silence was dedicated to her before the start of each race. The course developed along the banks of the Meschio and neighboring lands. Rain and mud made it very selective.
The Meschio Cyclocross represented the 14th and final stage of the 45th Trofeo Triveneto, the historic circuit promoted by the Triveneto cycling committees. Among the Open category, Filippo Fontana emerged victorious. The local favorite and Italian vice-champion had no rivals and raced alone from the first lap. A double success for Centro Sportivo Carabinieri with Goriziano Daniele Braidot closing in second position more than two minutes behind. Third place went to another experienced athlete, Bresciano Cristian Cominelli. The Trofeo Triveneto classification rewarded the eternal Martino Fruet. The Trentino rider for Team Lapierre, born in 1977, pocketed the leader's jersey for the sixth time in this historic circuit.
In the women's field, Gaia Santin prevailed. The Venetian from Team Bosco di Orsago preceded Friulian Alice Sabatino (Kicosys), who could celebrate victory in the final classification. Team Bosco di Orsago could celebrate victory after victory, including that of local favorite Pietro Cao. The Cordignano boy, whose municipality hosted the Meschio Trophy, preceded Tommaso Argenton (BTeam Cyclocross) and Cristian Roder, also from the organizing team. Victory and final classification in the Trofeo Triveneto for Pietro Cao, as well as for the Friulian junior Julia Magdalena Mitan (Jam's Bike). Among the juniors, powerful victories for Friulians Massimo Bagnariol (BTeam Cyclocross) and Alessio Borile (Dp66), in their second and first years respectively. Among the junior women, victory again went to Team Bosco Orsago, thanks to the excellent performance of Asia Gava, who, when interviewed after the finish line, literally brought tears to the eyes of her managers and organizers Alessandro Cao and Ivano Pessotto. In the competition reserved for beginners, the Italian champion's jersey of Varesino Luca Ferro (Bustese Olonia) shone, who raised his finger to the sky at the finish line, dedicating the victory to Sara Piffer. Among the female beginners, the best was Bellunese Zoe Del Ponte (Bosco Orsago). Among the first-year beginners, Giovanni Ghirardo (Team Bosco Orsago) prevailed. In the Masters category, victories went to Marco Gazzola (Bibione Cycling) in Fascia 1, Carmine Del Riccio (Sunshine Racers) in Fascia 2, Sergio Giuseppin (Delizia Bike) in Fascia 3, Flavio Zoppas (El Coridor) in Fascia 4, and Paola Maniago (Sorgente) among the Masterwoman.
