We will only know in a few hours if Demi Vollering will be able to continue her Tour de France Femmes. The Dutch athlete from FDJ Suez was involved in the mass crash that broke up the group yesterday and had reached the finish line escorted by her teammates, visibly in pain. Upon arriving at the team bus, Vollering had complained of pain but still got on the rollers for recovery.
As anticipated by the team manager of the French formation Stéphen Delcourt, Vollering was then examined by the team's medical staff, and late last night, FDJ Suez issued a statement reading: "The examinations revealed that Demi Vollering has suffered multiple contusions. In the evening, Demi underwent an initial assessment for a suspected concussion. The team's medical staff, Demi Vollering, and the FDJ-SUEZ management jointly decided not to go to the hospital in the evening, given the lack of urgency related to her medical conditions. Tomorrow morning, new examinations will be conducted with a second concussion protocol to rule out any suspicions. These results will allow Demi and the team to confirm whether she will be on the starting line for the fourth stage of the Tour."
