"This will be my last Vuelta, I will retire at the end of the season". Thus, with few words, Alexey Lutsenko confirmed that he will end his long racing career.

The Kazakh cyclist, born in 1992, will hang up his bike after fourteen seasons spent pedaling around the world, defending the colors of Team Astana, Israel – Premier Tech and now Team NSN. To date, Lutsenko can boast forty-one victories, among which stand out several national championships in time trial and road race, two editions of the Memorial Pantani, the stage finishing at Mont Aigoual in the 2020 Tour de France edition and the Vuelta España stage that concluded in Alcossebre in 2017, the same location that hosted the start of yesterday's stage.

Lutsenko does not yet have a defined professional future. "I will certainly spend time with my family, and then perhaps I could return to cycling with a new role and new projects," explained the cyclist before the start of yesterday's stage.
