Eight Italian athletes have been selected for the road cycling races at the XX Mediterranean Games in Taranto 2026. The individual time trial will take place on Saturday, August 22 on the Taranto city circuit, while on Monday, August 24 the road races are scheduled on the Valle d'Itria routes.
For the time trial, the technical commissioner for time trial events Marco Villa has chosen Elena Cecchini and Martina Fidanza among the women, Luca Giaimi and Mirco Maestri among the men. Cecchini, Giaimi, Fidanza and Maestri will also take part in the road race. In this event, technical commissioners Marco Velo and Roberto Amadio have also selected Rachele Barbieri, Barbara Guarischi, Tommaso Dati and Federico Iacomoni.
The two time trials will be held on Saturday, August 22 on a 17-kilometer course entirely set within the urban area of Taranto. The women will race from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the men from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
On Monday, August 24, it will be the turn of the road races. The women's race, covering 90 kilometers, will start at 9 a.m. and finish by 11:30 a.m., while the men's race (140 kilometers) will start at 1 p.m., with the finish expected by 4:30 p.m.
