CELIA GERY 10. Skillful in interpreting the descent from the Pietragavina climb to perfection, once the FDJ United-Suez French rider finds herself in the leading group, she makes no mistakes, avoiding giving any pulls, conserving precious energy and finally, with composure, beating Brand's wheel, surpassing her mockingly in the final tens of meters. A perfect management of the finale.
LUCINDA BRAND 9. After the sacrifice for Balsamo's four-stage haul the day before, the experienced Dutch rider finds herself playing for a stage that perhaps, in the plans, was meant to once again favor her Italian teammate. Instead, giving yet another demonstration of her ability to read race finales with shrewdness, she follows the attackers like a shadow after the climb and respects the script by riding on their wheels. She falls short by just 40 meters to gift the fifth stage to Lidl-Trek, but aside from that, another masterful performance.
CHANTAL PEGOLO 9. In her first year among the elite, she launches an attack, stays in the breakaway all day, resists on the climb, doesn't get dropped on the flat and even finds the strength to secure her first podium of the year as well as the best result of her career on these stages: truly remarkable.
ELISA LONGO BORGHINI AND SILVIA PERSICO 8. If it weren't for the UAE Team ADQ pairing, we would be witnessing yet another bunch sprint finish. Instead, practically on their own, the two Italian riders create a sumptuous stage finale, attacking on the descent and fueling the action right to the end, which proved decisive for today's victory. The haul may be modest (five seconds in the general classification) but the drive and determination are highly commendable.
SARA LUCCON AND GAIA SEGATO 7. Another day in the breakaway for the two very young Italian riders who continue to rack up kilometers in the wind and make themselves visible in the vanguard: the first ends up taking the intermediate sprint at Zavattarello before getting dropped on the climb, the second holds on until the very end, securing an important sixth place. Keep it up like this.
HUMAN POWERED HEALTH 5.5. Chasing all day long, first the day's breakaway together with Lidl-Trek, then the attack of the seven leaders in the finale. Result: a twelfth place finish with Coles-Lyster that, when compared to the efforts expended over the 159 kilometers, is anything but a satisfactory placement.
