Nicolò Garibbo's third seasonal victory came at the finish line of the second stage of the Tour of Japan, the stage race that Team UKYO, directed by Manuele Boaro, is dominating. Today's success on the Inabe finish line marks the third consecutive win for the white and red team and comes after two previous victories by Tommaso Dati.
Garibbo, reached by phone by tuttobiciweb after the stage, recounts: "Today we expected a tough race and that's exactly what it turned out to be. We managed to get a man in the breakaway of the day but in the last two laps we had to reorganize ourselves a bit. In the final kilometers we communicated with each other, all three of us were feeling very strong, the team did great work and Tommaso put himself at our service to lead us into the sprint, allowing me to win with Federico finishing fourth".
Today's victory carries a special double dedication and Nicolò wants to emphasize it: "In recent times I've been intensely thinking about winning a race to dedicate it to two special people. One is Guerino Lanzo, my sports director in the youth categories at Ciclistica Bordighera who left us in recent days, and the other is Marcello Massini, also recently passed away, who believed in me and relaunched my career at Gragnano among the amateurs. This success is for them"
