Six seconds. This is the distance between France and Italy, between the new European champions and the Italian sextet, defending champions, who finish second in the 2025 continental championships mixed relay. The Swiss athletes took third place and the bronze medal, crossing the finish line with a deficit of 40". Rémi Cavagna, Thibault Guernalec, Marion Borras, Bruno Armirail, Cédrine Kerbaol and Juliette Labous completed the forty-kilometer course in 47'42" and left the Italian sextet behind.
Filippo Ganna, Lorenzo Milesi and Marco Frigo had completed their segment with the best time, leaving a "small treasure" of 23" to Elena Cecchini, Vittoria Guazzini and Federica Venturelli who maintained the lead for almost their entire segment. Guazzini and Venturelli approached the last 1600 meters with a slight advantage over the French, who had a better final stretch.
Switzerland, led by the new European and World Champion Reusser, also managed to finish the race on an upward trend after their male colleagues had completed their segment with a 41" delay, hindered by a mechanical issue with Kung.
At the end of the second day of competition in Drôme Ardèche, Italy brings home the third medal, which adds to the silver medal won by Filippo Ganna in the individual time trial and the gold medal of Federica Venturelli who yesterday gave the Italian team the continental title in the U23 category.
