New double victory for Dutch rider Eline Jansen who, in the fourth and final stage of the "Tuscana", took home both the stage win and the leader's jersey, this time definitively. On the splendid finish line of Viale Verdi, in front of a large crowd, the 23-year-old rider from the "Wolkerwessel Cycling Team" beat her breakaway companions, Belarusian Alena Amialiusik and Belgian Xaydee Van Sinaey, who finished second and third respectively. The main group, led by Belgian Van Eynde, arrived 30" behind.

The decisive breakaway formed two laps from the finish, in the final circuit that included the tricky Vico climb. The last and most "challenging" stage, from Lucca to Montecatini Terme, covering 146 km with 8 demanding climbs, concluded as expected, with the top riders battling until the final meters.

A well-deserved success for Jansen, who concluded this 29th edition of the Giro by writing her name in the prestigious honor roll of the event created in memory of the unforgettable champion Michela Fanini.

The race report - Immediately a "sparkling" race. From the start, the first breakaway saw Spanish rider Ariana Gilabert's solo attempt on the first of eight mountain grand prix stages. The Iberian rider was then caught by Ukrainian Kateryna Velychko, Italians Valeria Curnis and Valentina Zanzi, and Adela Pittnerova (Czech Rep.); the leading quintet reached a maximum advantage of 1'40".

The peloton then regrouped entering Valdinievole, where the final laps with the 5 Vico climbs began. On the second pass through the finish line, there was an important sprint for the "Michela" Bonus Points that awarded precious seconds in the general classification (3", 2", 1") to leader Eline Jansen (Ned), first at the passage, Francesca Pellegrini (Ita), second, and Belarusian Alena Amialiusiuk.

Before the decisive breakaway of the trio that eventually reached the finish line, Australian Mackenzie Coupland attempted a solo move, reaching a maximum advantage of 40", becoming the provisional leader for a few kilometers.
