A change to the program we've been accustomed to for years and a strong and unequivocal signal towards gender equality in cycling. In recent hours, the organizers of the World Championships to be held in two years in Haute-Savoie have announced that the women's event will close the packed program of the world championship.
Sunday, September 5, 2027 the stage in Sallanches (where the World Championships were also held in 1980, ed.) will be entirely dedicated to women who will take part in the road race. "Equality is an essential condition for the future of sport and at the 2027 World Championships, gender equality is not an opinion but an evident reality".
The organizers, in the same statement, emphasize that each discipline will be equally represented by women and men, and that the same visibility and opportunities will be given to all. Two years may still remain, but get ready because it seems that the 2027 World Championships are destined to mark a historic moment in cycling.
