It was a positive assessment of the first day of the 29th GP Fabbi Imola organized by Ciclistica Santerno Fabbi Imola. After the cancellation of the Giovanissimi race, with over 250 registered participants then engaged in alternative activities within the racetrack, the afternoon saw paracyclists from Obiettivo 3, in collaboration with Ciclistica Omnia Imola, and the road race for Juniors (17-18 years old). The total number of registered participants exceeds 900 units, considering Beginners and Cadets on Sunday.
The 29th GP Fabbi Imola organized by Ciclistica Santerno Fabbi Imola has begun. A day that, despite non-optimal weather conditions in the morning, managed to unite moments of sport, celebration, and inclusion within the unique setting of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari Racetrack.
Morning: Giovanissimi
Morning rains did not allow the race for Giovanissimi (5-12 years old), with over 250 boys and girls in the group, to take place. However, the organization transformed the morning into a different but equally significant occasion: children and families were able to experience the Racetrack with group games such as tug of war, capture the flag, and jersey game, with photos and awards directly on the finish straight, and a guided shuttle tour along the circuit track.
The most emotional moment was the track lap shared between the Giovanissimi and the Paralympic athletes from Obiettivo 3, which made the inclusive vocation of the event concrete.
Afternoon: Juniors
In the afternoon, 137 Juniors took part in the Ciclistica Omnia Trophy - 5th Michael Antonelli Memorial, over 18 laps of the Racetrack (83.5 km), organized by Ciclistica Santerno Fabbi Imola with Ciclistica Omnia Imola. After the first laps in a compact group, the decisive moment came after about 5 laps when 14 riders broke away: Luca Casarin (A.S.D. Postumia 73 D.L. Ciclismo), Jacopo Vendramin, Samuele Cervi and Nicola Belvedere (Ind. Forniture Moro-C&G Capital), Andrea Meloni (Team Vangi Il Pirata), Luca Fabbri (Team Vangi Il Pirata), Edoardo Bolletta (Sidermec), Luca Cavatorta (Gruppo Sportivo Parmense), Cristian Barra (Polisportiva Monsummanese), Carmine Raia (Cycling Team Nial Nizzoli Almo), Tommaso Tasca (A.S.D. Postumia 73 D.L. Ciclismo), Lorenzo Iaconeta, Michele Melini and Alessandro Ruffilli (Team General System). The group no longer returned, and so the escapees played for the victory, with Jacopo Vendramin stunning Meloni and Casarin in the sprint.
Paracycling Campus Day
Completing the day was the Paracycling Campus Day of Obiettivo 3, organized in collaboration with Ciclistica Omnia Imola: an event dedicated to introducing Paralympic sports, which saw athletes from different categories on the track at the Racetrack, with the aim of growing a culture of sport accessible to all.
Sunday's program
The event continues on Sunday, August 31st, with races reserved for Beginners (13-14 years old) and Cadets (15-16 years old), which will complete the program of the 29th GP Fabbi Imola, bringing the total to over 900 registered participants.
