In just over a week - exactly on September 6th at the Maryland Classic - they will race their last event and the curtain will fall on the story of Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling, a story that lasted eleven years. The German team unfortunately could not find a new sponsor to replace Ceratizit, which in May had already announced its intention to conclude its long sponsorship commitment.
"With deep regret, we confirm that the Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling will have no future at the end of this season. We sincerely thank the Ceratizit group, Orbea, and all partners who supported us, as well as all our athletes, staff, and our many fans," wrote team manager Claude Sun in a statement.
"The current economic situation has had a significant impact on our ability to continue in the WorldTour. Despite all our efforts to involve new sponsors, the increase in costs and current conditions make it impossible for us to continue our journey."
In eleven years of activity, the team led by former German pro Dirk Baldinger has achieved 67 victories, including 13 in WorldTour races, as well as seven world titles and four Olympic track titles. Thanks to French rider Cédrine Kerbao, they secured a prestigious stage win at the Tour de France Femmes last year, while this season the team has obtained 5 victories.
