Marianne Vos won the Vannes / Plumelec, the first stage of the Tour de France Femmes and after the 78 kilometers on the program, she left Kimberley Le Court (AG Insurance - Soudal Team) and her teammate Pauline Ferrand-Prévot behind who had attacked in the last kilometer, selecting the group. Thanks to this team action, Visma Lease a Bike brings two athletes to the stage podium and celebrates Marianne Vos's yellow jersey, marking her 258th career success and tomorrow she will restart from Brest leading the general classification.

THE STAGE - The official start of the first stage was delayed by a few minutes to allow some athletes who had fallen in the transfer section to reach the back of the group, but at the first pedal stroke after kilometer 0, Laura Tomasi (Laboral Kutxa - Fundación Euskadi) attacked, immediately gaining space. The 26-year-old from Treviso was joined by Dutch rider Maud Rijnbeek (VolkerWessels Cycling Team) and continued with her for about twenty kilometers.

Just before the start of the Côte de Botségalo climb, Rijnbeek decided to continue solo while Laura Tomasi was caught by the group led by SD Worx Protime, Visma Lease a Bike, and FDJ Suez EF and UAE Team ADQ. At the top of the first GPM of this Tour de France Femmes, the 22-year-old from VolkerWessels Cycling Team passed with a 12" lead over Eva van Agt (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) who regulated the group. At the 32nd kilometer of the race, the group neutralized Rijnbeek's action, returning compact.

Arriving in the final circuit, the group split due to a crash involving Mavi García (Liv AlUla Jayco), Marion Bunel (Team Visma | Lease a Bike), Maeva Squiban (UAE Team ADQ) and Liane Lippert (Movistar Team). At the back of the group, along with the winner of the last stage of the Giro d'Italia Women, was her teammate Marlen Reusser, who had been suffering since the start of the stage and shortly after abandoned the race.

At the first passage through the finish line, valid as an intermediate sprint, Lorena Wiebes (Team SD Worx – Protime) preceded Franziska Koch (Team Picnic PostNL) and Anna van der Breggen (Team SD Worx – Protime). With 17 kilometers to go, Francesca Barale (Team Picnic PostNL) tried a breakaway and was caught by the peloton a couple of kilometers later.

The second GPM of the day, placed at the passage of the second finish line, was won by Elise Chabbey (FDJ – SUEZ) ahead of the Dutch riders Eline Jansen (VolkerWessels Cycling Team) and Silke Smulders (Liv AlUla Jayco). The real battle exploded five kilometers from the finish with repeated attacks by various athletes; however, the decisive attack came from Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, who progressively gained several meters, almost serving as a reference point for Vos, who overtook Le Court to win.

VOS'S WORDS: "It was a nervous stage, with palpable tension in the group. In the finale, we worked especially on the descent and before the turn to keep me and Pauline in the front positions. Then she attacked and was good at immediately gaining a good advantage. At that point, I controlled the opponents. When I saw Kim Le Court alongside me, I started because I know she has a very good quick burst, I was afraid Pauline wouldn't be able to stay ahead. I waited until the last moment to start my sprint with Kim, but then we caught Pauline. What we did is amazing for the team."
