At the finish line of the 55th Sportivi Cup of Bagnolo di Montemurlo, eighteen-year-old Costa Rican Sebastian Castro Castro wins by a margin, while the 2025 Tuscan junior title goes to Florence's Campi Bisenzio rider, Team Vangi Il Pirata's Mattia Ballerini, who finished second. It was a selective race that ultimately caused many retirements (only 33 out of 97 starters finished), of which 55 were Tuscans aiming to win the regional title. Castro Castro's success was well-deserved, the result of an intelligent race strategy.
On the last pass of the five climbs at the Rocca hill, which decimated the field, the Costa Rican was first in the leading quintet before launching his attack, taking advantage of the rivalry between the three Tuscans in the lead group - Cianti, Paladini, and Ballerini. His twenty-second advantage was defended until the finish line by Castro Castro, who races for Team General System and has been in Italy for just seven days. He demonstrated class and talent, and despite a crash at the start of the race, he returned to be a protagonist.
The Tuscan title goes fully deserved to Ballerini, who was at the top of the race for many kilometers, first in company with other riders and then alone, before being caught 8 km from the finish. A jersey that made Ballerini extremely happy, which he dedicated to those who always believed in him. Cianti's performance was also brilliant, finishing third, as was Paladini's. Iacchi was generous, to mention the Tuscans, and Nicoloso also performed well in a race that saw a duel between Team Vangi Il Pirata and Pol. Monsummanese. The Prato race consisted of 16 laps, with the first 11 flat, plus five with the Rocca climb that inflamed the race and made it selective. Excellent organization by the Cycling Team Seanese and the local Committee.
