Can a helmet tell a story? Of course it can, and if you look closely, it can tell more than one—you just need to know where to look for the details. Such is the case with Giulio Pellizzari's new helmet, the Specialized Evade4 model, which Red Bull wanted to personalize for the young talent from the Marche region.
A helmet, as we were saying, that tells many stories: on one side there are medieval drawings that tell the story of his hometown, Camerino, while on the other side stands a noble crown that pays homage to the rider's nickname, the Duke of Camerino.
But the helmet that Pellizzari wore for the first time on Thursday, May 21st, and which will accompany him until the end of the Giro, tells the very emotions of this edition of the pink race: on Bulgaria there's a four-leaf clover because Giulio is very superstitious and this is a good luck charm for him; on Naples stands a pizza, on the Blockhaus an X because it represented a key stage of his Giro.
And more, Camerino has the image of a heart because it's his city, Rome is represented with crossed fingers as a sign of good wishes, Tuscany is represented by the clock symbolizing the time trial; on Monte Pana stand out sunglasses because May 21st, 2024 was the day Pellizzari received sunglasses as a gift from Pogacar, and finally on the Valle d'Aosta shines an emoticon to signify the complexity of today's stage. In which Giulio, with his personalized helmet firmly placed on his head, hopes to be a great protagonist.
