It's been just under a month since her victory at GP El Salvador and Laura Tomasi is ready to return to racing: today, at 13:09, together with her teammates from Laboral Kutxa - Fundación Euskadi, she will present herself on the starting ramp of the team time trial that will open the Vuelta España Femenina. Yesterday, however, just before the team presentation, the 25-year-old from Treviso agreed to speak to tuttobiciweb's microphones.
Laura, you're returning to racing after good performances and the joy of victory in El Salvador.
"I'm really happy to put the number on my back again, to return to racing in Europe and to do so at the Vuelta. El Salvador left me with many emotions, it was truly a beautiful experience, not just sporting but overall. Upon returning, I needed some time to recover from the jet lag, but then I recovered and took the opportunity to train for the first Grand Tour of the season".
What Vuelta España do you expect?
"It will be a tough race. Of the seven stages awaiting us, those that could be more 'calm' are the second, which will conclude in Sant Boi de Llobregat, the third, ending in Huesca, and the penultimate stage that will end in Baltanás. Additionally, we'll need to be careful of the wind".
You mentioned three stages that could be suitable for you.
"We'll see how it goes, certainly I'll work for the team. We're all doing well and want to be protagonists".
Who among you will take care of the general classification?
"In this case too, we'll see stage by stage, certainly Ane (Santesteban) and Usoa (Ostolaza) are in form".
The race will open with a time trial, how do you think it should be approached?
"It's hard to say, it's a very short time trial. Tomorrow morning (today for readers) we'll try the course that we've already seen on computer. Perhaps the thing to do will be to start strong from the first pedal strokes. We don't lack grit, we'll see how we do".
