The handbike training sessions for the "Beyond the Finish Line" project kicked off on Wednesday, October 14th at the Attilio Pavesi Velodrome in Fiorenzuola d'Arda. The initiative is organized by ASD Consorzio Velodromo di Fiorenzuola and is realized with the support of the Piacenza and Vigevano Foundation.
The activity is free and aimed at adults with motor disabilities. Meetings will be held on a weekly basis in the velodrome facilities, with the support of a technical instructor and an assistant for equipment preparation and maintenance.
The launch of the training sessions follows the organizational work and recruitment efforts carried out since July. The program offers both the opportunity to approach handbike for the first time and the chance to train regularly, taking into account the needs of participants.
«After some experiences in previous years, we finally managed to establish a sustainable handbike project at the velodrome, with a fixed appointment every week», explains Luca Taranti, project coordinator. «It's gratifying to see the enthusiasm of the athletes on the track: being able to maintain this momentum is one of the reasons we worked on this project. Thanks to the contribution of the Piacenza and Vigevano Foundation, we can offer this opportunity free of charge in our territory, both for those who want to try for the first time and for those who wish to train regularly».
Roberto Reggi, President of the Piacenza and Vigevano Foundation: «The Foundation's commitment to promoting sport for all stems from the conviction that sports practice is a fundamental experience for health and psycho-physical well-being, and also an important opportunity for inclusion, socialization and promotion of personal autonomy. An aspect that we have also introduced in our organization's new statute, which permanently includes sport among the sectors of intervention. We therefore support this project with conviction and wish good work to the coaches and handbike athletes of the Pavesi Velodrome, so that it can increasingly become a place of meeting, growth and participation».
