The region changes, the roads change but the altitude profile of today's stage remains similar to yesterday: the eighth stage of the Tour de France, Perigueux - Bergerac covering 180.4 km (with 1,150 metres of elevation gain) is essentially flat and will offer another great opportunity for the sprinters.

There are only two categorized climbs on the schedule, both fourth category: first the Côte de Domme, at km 102.6, measuring 3.7 km at 3.3%; then the Côte du Buisson-de-Cadouin at km 140.9, shorter - just 2.2 km - but at 5.3%.

It will be an opportunity, along the way, to applaud the brave breakaway riders who will certainly attempt to escape and to take a look at the beauties of the Perigord region such as the Lascaux Cave (also known as the "Sistine Chapel of prehistory" for its extraordinary Paleolithic paintings dating back 20,000 years: if you've never visited them, put them on your itinerary...) or the gem of Sarlat, one of the best-preserved medieval villages in Europe. All this before arriving in Bergerac, at the home of a certain Cyrano, whose statue stands proudly in the heart of the city.
