One rider, Tobias Johannessen, to aim for the highest positions in the general classification, one sprinter, Søren Wærenskjold, to try to dominate at the finish line in bunch sprints, and six men ready to dedicate themselves to supporting one or the other, abandoning, depending on circumstances, their gregario duties to pursue personal stage success by launching into breakaways.
It is with clear ambitions and ideas in mind that, at Uno-X Mobility, Gabriel Rasch, Stig Kristiansen and Christian Andersen have selected the eight men who will defend the colors of the Scandinavian-spirited team at the upcoming Tour de France, a race where, at their fourth consecutive participation, the Danish-Norwegian squad will attempt to improve upon the more than satisfactory results achieved in last year's edition.
"The objective is to repeat what we did in 2025, but succeeding could be even more difficult than last year because now we've declared it openly," Rasch stated. "In the previous edition, we lined up as underdogs with the general classification objective tucked away in a corner of our minds. This year, instead, the pressure is greater from the start, as are the expectations".
Following Jonas Abrahamsen's historic first stage victory (very much confirmed in the roster for this year's Grande Boucle after recent performances at the Tour of Belgium) and Johannessen's 6th place in the general classification, Uno-X will indeed seek to raise the bar even higher, not only trying to match the number of partial successes from 2025 but also, above all, aiming for an even higher position in the standings.
"The objective and the great mission of the entire team is to finish in the top five in the general classification with Tobias (Johannessen, ed.)," confessed the Norwegian directeur sportif, who, with this in mind, has aligned with the rest of the management the intention to compose this year a lineup more oriented toward standing out on high mountain stages.
"During the selection phase, we focused more on assembling a team that could be strong in the climbs, with more riders capable of staying alongside Tobias. In the past, we've been somewhat weak in this regard, with Tobias often finding himself alone when there were still about 30 riders in the lead group," explained Rasch, who, to prevent this situation from recurring, has selected men with noted climbing qualities such as Anthon Charmig, Andreas Kron and Torstein Træen.
"We'll probably race in a somewhat more cautious and somewhat more conservative manner, having the general classification objective, but we will continue to insert ourselves into breakaways and race offensively when we deem it appropriate to do so. We're not a team that wants to attack just for fun: we go when we truly believe in these attempts".
While focusing more on providing the best possible support to their leader for the general classification, Uno-X will therefore not completely betray the philosophy and identity that have allowed them to carve out a precise space within the peloton. Similarly, they won't shy away from throwing themselves into the mix in bunch sprints, a race situation where, even without a complete train at his disposal, the winner of the 2025 Omloop Nieuwsblad Søren Wærenskjold will be tasked with hitting the big target.
"He's the type of rider who doesn't need too much support, but on flat stages he'll still have some men at his side," concluded Rasch, who, for this purpose, will bring to the start from Barcelona both Anders Skaarseth (to whom the role of race director will be entrusted) and Magnus Cort, who, on certain days, will certainly be able to enjoy the freedom necessary to pursue some personal glory.
