The Tudor team is tackling the Giro with a dual objective: on one hand there's the general classification with Michael Storer, on the other there's the desire to try to win a stage. The Swiss squad has decided to field Luca Mozzato as well, who, coming off an excellent season in the north, is approaching the pink race with the determination to bring home concrete results by taking advantage of both sprinter stages and those reserved for attackers.
An excellent sprinter and classics rider, the Venetian cyclist is at the start of the pink race for the second time, but the first wearing the Tudor team jersey. In 2026 we're facing a Luca who is even more competitive, but above all even more determined to bring home a concrete result. "It's been a very intense month of classics, after Roubaix I took four days off and then gradually I started training again. I feel good and I've had great support from the team, I'm happy I haven't had any setbacks and that I've trained well. At Tudor I immediately found my place, it's a much more international environment, but in terms of preparation I haven't made major changes. Last year my approach to the Giro wasn't the best, during the classics I had some physical problems and there hadn't been enough time to recover. This time I'm at the start with extra determination, I want to do well for myself and especially for the team." explains Luca, who in the previous edition already achieved a top ten finish with the arrival in Naples.
The team will be entirely focused on Michael Storer who has the declared objective of fighting for the general classification, but in the flat stages without major mountains on the horizon Mozzato will have the opportunity to play his cards. For him, who is not a pure sprinter but rather a "hybrid" rider, an edition like this year's Giro could offer multiple opportunities to attack. "I believe this will be a Giro to live day by day, much like what happens in the classics you have to be ready to seize every opportunity and not let it slip away. I haven't circled any particular stage, I think it's pointless to focus energy on a single race day with the risk of throwing everything away, I'd rather manage to have good sprint finishes, but also try to attack – Luca continues – my personal goal is to collect results, this doesn't necessarily mean winning, but rather being present in the sprints and maybe in some breakaways. Our Giro will revolve around Michael Storer with whom we're aiming to reach a top ten in the general classification, we'll try to build ourselves day by day and find our personal freedom when the opportunity arises."
The teams have been in Bulgaria for a few days now, a country that in some ways is far removed from cycling culture, but which has welcomed the pink caravan in the best possible way. "In Bulgaria there isn't a cycling culture like we're used to, but we immediately got the impression that there's a lot of curiosity from people. In recent days while we were out training many people were cheering us on, some stopped us to ask for a photo. It's something different, but the public is much larger than last year. It's a great atmosphere and we hope the weather will be on our side too," concludes Luca Mozzato, who already today, in the inaugural stage, will try to make his mark by launching into a sprint.
