The Terengganu Cycling Team continues its clean sweep at the Tour of Thailand 2026. After conquering the first two stages with Pierre Barbier, the Malaysian Continental team has also claimed the queen stage of the short Asian race (the Nong Khai-Phu Foi Lom of 141.6 kilometers) with an impressive performance on the only uphill finish of the event, courtesy of Vadim Pronskiy.
On this occasion, the twenty-seven-year-old Kazakh (seen from 2020 to 2024 in the World Tour wearing the Astana jersey) got the better of another rider admired at the highest levels, Eduardo Sepulveda (who moved this year to Li Ning Star after three seasons at Lotto), in second place, and thirty-one-year-old British rider Daniel Whitehouse (St George Continental Cycling Team), the only two able to stay with him on the slopes of the concluding climb and contest the victory with him in the sprint.
"I can hardly believe it, it's a dream for me. I'm incredibly happy, I think it's the best day of my career. I thank my teammates, the whole team and the sponsors who support us," were his words after the finish line.
For Pronskiy, a past winner of stages at the Giro della Lunigiana and the Giro della Valle d'Aosta, this was thus his first major success and, taking the baton directly from his teammate Barbier, also the yellow jersey of race leader, a position that, with a 4-second advantage over Sepulveda (the Li Ning standard-bearer who will certainly not want to settle for a succession of podium finishes) and 9" over Whitehouse, in the coming days the native of Astana will certainly be committed to defending.
