Antonio Tiberi is searching for his first season victory and today at the Volta Comunitat Valenciana he hoped to resist Remco Evenepoel's attack and win the fourth stage of the Spanish race, ending in Teulada Morarira. Unfortunately, however, the Belgian's action was too strong and no one behind was able to stay on his wheel.
"When Remco attacked, I tried to stay on his wheel but it was impossible to stick to him and follow his pace". It was no secret that Evenepoel had said he would try to race today, conquering the stage and the leader's jersey. Behind him, in order, arrived Joao Almeida, with Giulio Pellizzari and Antonio Tiberi in fourth place.
"Remco had an incredible acceleration, I suffered a bit and I dropped off at the end. I was recovered by the group behind and could do nothing more. I at least hoped to make the podium".
For the rider born in the province of Frosinone, today could have been a good opportunity to erase a 2025 that was below his expectations. This was not the case, but Tiberi feels good and thinks that in this new season there will be good opportunities and important results for him.
"My conditions during these racing days have been improving and overall I have good sensations. I hoped the sprint would end differently, but that's how it went and I can do nothing about it now. There was a moment when Remco seemed within our reach and with Almeida we looked at each other. We thought for about ten seconds that maybe he was within our reach, but that was not the case and in the end the strongest won".
