The Marco Pantani Memorial 2025 was officially presented in Cesenatico, at the Maritime Museum Conference Hall, scheduled for Saturday, September 13th, the race that annually celebrates the memory of the "Pirate" by bringing great cycling back to his roads.
The overall, sports, and technical organization of the event is entrusted to the Emilia Sports Group, with the patronage of the Panathlon Club Cesena led by President Dionigio Dionigi, and with the fundamental support of Sidermec by Pino Buda, always alongside the event.
A blend of passion, memory, and territory, which has made the Pantani Memorial a fixed appointment on the international calendar and a celebration for all of Romagna.
Among those attending the race presentation were the Mayor of Cesenatico, Matteo Gozzoli, the Vice President of the Emilia Romagna Regional FCI Committee, Alessandro Spada, the Professional Cycling League Councilor, Maria Laura Guardamagna, as well as Tonina and Paolo Pantani, Adriano Amici and Dionigio Dionigi.
The race, valid as a trial for the Regions Italy Cup (the special Challenge of the Professional Cycling League) returns to its origins, in Cesenatico, Marco's city, with start and finish on the seafront. After a short transfer stage at controlled pace, the riders will enter the heart of the race: an initial line section of just under 14 kilometers will open the way to the hills. Then it will be the turn of the Sogliano al Rubicone circuit, to be repeated three times.
Here the route becomes immediately selective: with a first challenging climb, irregular sections between ascents and false flats, and a technical descent, rich with hairpin turns, that will accompany the riders to the valley floor.
After this section, the race will enter the heart of the Longiano circuit, initially approached partially and then for three complete laps. Here the riders will face the climb towards the village, tough in the first 700 meters with gradients close to 9%, and with narrower roads that will test legs and strategies.
At the Longiano Mountain Grand Prix, the effort will be rewarded by a suggestive passage through the village, followed by a technical descent and a new valley floor section up to the Roncofreddo climb. A continuous alternation of climbs and descents that will make the race explosive and difficult to control.
After the last Longiano lap, the road opens and heads towards the sea, on fast and smooth sections. But beware: the headwind, often a protagonist on this stretch, could complicate the group's plans.
The passage in front of Marco Pantani's former house marks the entrance to Cesenatico. Pure emotion, in the heart of his city, before the first crossing of the finish line.
From there, four final laps of the city circuit remain, characterized by long straights that will prepare the final sprint, or perhaps the winning move of those who will know how to surprise the group.
