Postponed by a month, the Papa' Elio GiorgioMare Grand Prix in Urbisaglia will take place on Saturday, August 30th and Sunday, August 31st, condensing into two race days instead of the originally planned three. Following the success of the five previous editions, the event is establishing itself as a reference point for youth cycling, transforming the last weekend of August into a showcase for emerging talents in the beginner and junior categories, who will have the opportunity to shine in a competitive and stimulating context.
An event made possible thanks to the dedication of the organizing committee led by Vincenzo Santoni (Tutti Campioni Cycling Group), counting on the fundamental support of main sponsor GiorgioMare, the company of Giorgio Longhi. Other local sponsors and the close synergy with the municipal administration of Urbisaglia, led by Mayor Riccardo Natalini, are also at the forefront. Since its debut in 2019 - skipped only in 2020 due to pandemic restrictions - the event has carved out a leading role in the Marche and inter-regional cycling calendar.
On Saturday, August 30th, the individual time trial for the Junior category will kick off: a 2.6-kilometer route starting from the GiorgioMare facility in Montedoro district and finishing in Urbisaglia's historic center, with an uphill section that will lead athletes to the finish line in the shadow of the Rocca.
Sunday, August 31st will see the two categories alternate. In the morning (10:30 AM), the Beginners will tackle a new 5-kilometer circuit to be repeated eight times between the Maestà and Montedoro districts (start and finish in front of the GiorgioMare company).
In the afternoon, starting at 3:30 PM, it will be the Juniors' turn, called to a more articulated test: after six laps of the morning Beginners' route, they will complete eight laps of the classic 7-kilometer circuit that touches Urbisaglia town, before concluding the race in front of the GiorgioMare facility.
