The Tour de France Femmes 2025 is not smiling on Italian athletes. After the withdrawals of Longo Borghini, Gasparrini, Balsamo, Trinca Colonel, and Confalonieri yesterday, the Italian squad in France has also lost Soraya Paladin.
The 32-year-old from Treviso, riding for CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto, had fallen during yesterday's seventh stage of the race and was forced to withdraw. Transported to the hospital, Soraya underwent examinations that revealed a collarbone fracture. The team informed this morning that "since it is a composed fracture, a conservative treatment might be adopted for Paladin".
Certainly a tough blow for Soraya, whose valuable work would have been crucial in supporting her team captain Katarzyna Niewiadoma, who is currently third in the general classification of this Tour de France Femmes, which will reach high altitude today at Col de la Madeleine.
