The Professional Cycling League extends numerous congratulations to a superb Jonathan Milan, absolute protagonist of this 2025 Tour de France and winner of the Green Jersey, held from the first stages and never lost. This is a historic milestone for Italian cycling: before him, only two Italian riders - Franco Bitossi (1968) and Alessandro Petacchi (2010) - had managed to achieve this goal.
In addition to Jonathan Milan, our congratulations go to his team and all Italian professional cyclists who completed the Tour: Gianni Moscon, Matteo Trentin, Simone Velasco, Alberto Dainese, Simone Consonni, Davide Ballerini, Vincenzo Albanese, Edoardo Affini and the unfortunate Pippo Ganna and Mattia Cattaneo for their commitment, tenacity, and desire to be there, honoring Italy in one of the most prestigious races in the world.
"Winning 2 stages and conquering the green jersey, leaving behind champions like Tadej Pogačar, Biniam Girmay, and Jonas Vingegaard is an extraordinary result; as the Professional Cycling League, we will promote and organize a high-profile institutional event at the Chamber of Deputies to award Jonathan Milan," commented President Roberto Pella, also a Deputy of the Republic. "Listening live from Paris on RAI to the beautiful words of Milan's parents, full of satisfaction, humility, and love, I once again appreciated the importance of family, which, beyond technicians, proves fundamental in the growth path of our athletes and indispensable in a three-week Tour".
For Milan, after the cyclamen jersey at the Giro d'Italia, this is the third points jersey in the three Grand Tours he has competed in, a milestone that adds to the Olympic medals from Tokyo and Paris and confirms his extraordinary talent and constant growth. "We wish the Friulian born in 2000 to continue on this path, aiming for new successes, from the points jersey at La Vuelta to cycling classics, up to victories in the blue jersey," declares the President of the Professional Cycling League Pella.
From today, our support and warmest good luck go to the athletes participating in the Tour de France Femmes.
