Tadej Pogacar is the most colorful rider of the Tour de France. This is evident from the jerseys he has conquered, starting with the yellow jersey, then the polka dot jersey, and even the green jersey, which was previously worn by Jonathan Milan. Only the white jersey is not his, as he is no longer young enough to wear it.
"Without a doubt, I am super happy with how I rode the time trial and to be 16 seconds behind the world and Olympic champion. We probably witnessed the best time trial in the world. And at this moment, I am super, super happy to have finished second."
Finishing second behind the Belgian allowed the Slovenian to take first place in the general classification, with an advantage of 42" over Evenepoel, 59" over Vauquelin, and 1'13" over Vingegaard. "I lost a bit to Remco, but I gained time on the others, so I am very satisfied. Having more than a minute on Jonas naturally makes me happy. I can truly say that yesterday was an excellent day overall."
Pogacar had to wait a long time after the race before leaving, as he had to climb onto the podium three times during the ceremony. "As a team, we continue to aim straight for the general classification, even though I now have the green and polka dot jerseys. However, the most important thing for us is the yellow jersey and wearing it on the Champs-Élysées. Right now, wearing the yellow jersey isn't so important, but it's a nice feeling to have it in my hands. Every day is a battle for the general classification, and today will be a battle again, and we'll need to be careful in every stage. So far, we've had nervous or very challenging days, and I think the next two stages will be the same. We just need to maintain control, stay calm, and believe in ourselves and our team."
