A stylized bicycle, to remember a great cycling champion: this is the sculpture dedicated to Felice Gimondi that has "found its home" in the heart of ChorusLife, the innovative smart district of Bergamo.
The artwork was unveiled on Sunday, during the inaugural day of the Giro d'Italia Women 2025 which started from ChorusLife Bergamo, in the presence of the Gimondi family, city authorities, and project promoters. Located at the beginning of the slope leading to the ChorusLife Arena, the sculpture, created by artist Emiliano Facchinetti, is made of wood-effect fiberglass; one wheel tells the story of Gimondi's sports career, with his palmares, while the other, which bears the inscription "Noise does no good, good does not make noise", represents the moral legacy of the Bergamo champion.
"This sculpture is not just an artistic work: it is a gesture of memory and gratitude" - said Fabio Bosatelli, president of POLIFIN, who spoke alongside vice president Giovanna Terzi Bosatelli. "My father, Cav. Lav. Domenico Bosatelli, years ago had the intuition, together with Gianpaolo Sana, to pay tribute to Felice Gimondi with a sculpture. An idea born from a genuine relationship, developed during the years of the Gewiss-Bianchi team. Today that gesture takes shape in an innovative smart district that combines sport, culture, and entertainment: an urban regeneration intervention designed to return to the community a living, open, and shared city space."
Norma Gimondi, the champion's daughter, added: "I thank the Bosatelli family and Gianpaolo Sana for wanting this work in a special place for us. It is a sign of the esteem and affection that has always bound us. In my thoughts, I see my father alongside three visionary men: Tino Sana, Domenico Bosatelli, and Alfredo Ambrosetti".
"With this work, we wanted to give voice to a desire that my father, Tino Sana, always cherished for his friend Felice" - emphasized Gianpaolo Sana, president of Tino Sana -. "Paying tribute to that authentic friendship was a journey that today takes shape in a living place, capable of speaking to the future".
