Just 45 days remain until its historic date on August 15th, but at the "Torrino" in Piazza Tasso in the Oltrarno district, home of A.S. Aurora, the anticipation for the classic elite and under-23 race that all riders want to win is already palpable. Two substantial novelties were revealed during the press conference at the Ennio Macconi Hall in Palazzo Vecchio. The new face of Aurora Society after the death of its historic president Giampaolo Ristori, with Massimo Sandrelli elected to that role, and the race organization that will be managed by the Pistoia Motorcyclists Group led by president Stefano Curradi. Unchanged and fundamental remains the support of the Tuscany Region, the patronage and collaboration of the municipalities of Florence and Viareggio, the Metropolitan City of Florence, as well as the contribution of sponsors starting with the Corpo Vigili Giurati 1925, which this year celebrates 100 years since its founding, and also Icare, FarmaCity, Neri Sottoli, Natali Renato, Vangi, Del Re Legal Studio, Arc, Chianti Mutua ETS, Savino Del Bene. At the conference, Florence Sports Councilor Letizia Perini was present, highlighting the great work done by Giampaolo Ristori from 1946 until his passing, along with cycling managers Metti, Menichetti, Mecacci, and Aurora managers with president Sandrelli.
THE ROUTE: Hours and route remain unchanged. The unofficial start on Ferragosto from Piazza Tasso at 7:10 AM, the official start from Via Pistoiese at the end of the Indiamo Viaduct at 7:30 AM. Flat terrain to Pistoia, then after the "zampellotto" of Serravalle Pistoiese, the long climb towards Vico, Marliana, Goraiolo and Prunetta, the Reno Valley, the Monte Oppio climb, the descent along the Serchio Valley, and finally the tough Pedona climb 15 km from the finish, followed by a challenging descent, to finally reach the Viareggio seafront in front of Piazza Mazzini after 180 kilometers, just before noon.
