The MBH Bank Ballan CSB Colpack team, led by Antonio Bevilacqua, Gabor Deak, and the Ballan, D’Aprile, and Colleoni families, has reached a preliminary agreement with Team Veleka, the junior squad managed by Claudio Terenzi, regarding the future of Australian rider Tom I’Ons. Currently in his first year as a junior, I’Ons claimed a solo victory in early June at the Trofeo San Francesco in the province of Chieti and will continue to race for Team Veleka throughout his two-year stint in the junior category.
Here’s a summary of the statements outlining the agreement:
Antonio Bevilacqua, Team Manager of MBH Bank Ballan CSB Colpack:
“We’re pleased with this agreement with President Terenzi regarding a young athlete of clear potential. We’re working on a medium-term project to closely assess the rider with a view toward 2027. Our coaches will monitor him properly to ensure his development as a cyclist, continuing our mission of nurturing athletes who can make their mark in this sport.”
Claudio Terenzi, President of Team Veleka:
“I’m truly proud that a team with aspirations for top-level cycling has recognized the quality of the work we’ve been doing for the past three years in developing international talent toward higher levels. After seeing our former rider Luke Tuckwell wear the pink jersey at the Giro Next Gen, and following the confirmed move of our current Belarusian rider Slesarenko to a Continental team, we’re happy to continue this trend with Tom I’Ons and MBH Bank Ballan CSB Colpack. I thank Antonio Bevilacqua and Federica Pezzotta, who visited us in Tuscany during the Giro della Valdera to finalize the agreement.”
