The national time trial champions of various countries are already known and in Belgium, as well as in Italy, the big favorites did not disappoint, once again conquering the national time trial titles.
In Belgium, the world and Olympic champion of the discipline Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep) easily won, with 1 minute and 11 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher Florian Vermeersch (UAE-XRG), while in the women's race, the absolute favorite Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx-Protime) won the national title for the seventh consecutive time.
In Italy, another time trial specialist did not disappoint expectations, namely Filippo Ganna (Ineos-Grenadiers), who retained the Italian champion jersey. Baroncini finished second, 46" behind, while Cattaneo closed in third place with a 57" gap. In France, the victory went for the second consecutive year to Bruno Armirail (Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale). Ethan Hayter (Soudal Quick Step) won the title in the United Kingdom. In the Netherlands and Switzerland, the victories went to Daan Hoole (Lidl-Trek) and Mauro Schmid (Jayco-AlUla) respectively.
The big surprise came from Spain where Abel Balderstone (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) beat last year's winner, David De la Cruz (Q36.5), on a 14 km climb. Regarding Germany, Maximilian Schachmann (Soudal-QuickStep) defeated the winner of the last two years, Nils Politt (UAE-XRG), who this time had to settle for fourth place.
In Denmark, in the absence of Mattias Skjelmose and on a completely flat course, his Lidl-Trek teammate Mads Pedersen won his first national title in the discipline. Meanwhile, Antonio Morgado (UAE-XRG) won the race in Portugal for the second consecutive year.
Most national titles, both in time trials and in road races, have been awarded during this period of the year, but in countries like Colombia and Australia, the races were held at the beginning of the year. Therefore, between January and February, Luke Plapp (Jayco-AlUla) was the fastest in Australia, Finn Fisher-Black (RedBull-Bora) in New Zealand, Egan Bernal (Ineos-Grenadiers) in Colombia, and Artem Shmidt (Ineos-Grenadiers) in the United States.
