Called the "Dolomites Tour for Safety", this is Antonio Cortese's most recent challenge. An adventure undertaken in recent days by the Cantu cycling enthusiast and testimonial for the "I Respect the Cyclist" Association, born with a precise purpose: to raise public awareness about the need for a tolerant and peaceful coexistence between cyclists and motorists.
Riding his bicycle, Antonio Cortese scaled the most iconic Dolomite passes, covering approximately 130 kilometers and an elevation gain of almost 9,000 meters in two stages. On the first day, leaving Pedavena early in the morning, the passionate Lombard cyclist tackled Croce d'Aune, Duran, Giau, Staulanza, Falzarego and Valparola, reaching the "finish line" in Corvara in Badia, where he met the newly elected Mayor Roman Crazzolara to present the cyclist safety project and propose installing "cyclist-saving" informative signs, similar to those inaugurated in various locations during the Giro d'Italia.
On the second day of the "Dolomites Tour for Safety", Cortese crossed the Gardena, Sella, Fedaia and Valles passes, concluding his challenge at the top of Passo Rolle. "It was an epic journey, each pass had its own particularity and difficulty, but also its own charm. Being accompanied by many cycling enthusiasts along the pass turns gave me additional strength," Cortese declared. He will continue his awareness-raising work on respecting cyclists in various Italian schools and driving schools in the near future.
