
The entry list for the Giro Next Gen Carta Giovani Nazionale has been announced, which will start on Sunday, June 15th from Rho with an individual time trial and will conclude, after eight stages, on Sunday 22nd in Pinerolo. Organized by RCS Sport on behalf of the Italian Cycling Federation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sport and Youth, the race will cross three regions for a total of 1029.4 km. The big appetizer will be on Saturday, June 14th at 6:30 PM in Piazza San Vittore in Rho with the official team presentation.
Great anticipation for Jarno Widar, winner of the 2024 edition, who will attempt to become the first rider in history to win the Giro Next Gen for two consecutive years. The Belgian, representing the Lotto Dstny Development Team, will have bib number 1 and will lead a high-level field. Among the expected protagonists are Pau Martí, third in 2024, Pavel Novak (5th in 2024), Luke Tuckwell (10th in 2024), Jorgen Nordhagen, seeking redemption after an unfortunate edition, Albert Withen Philipsen and Lorenzo Mark Finn, the last two Junior World Champions, and Adria Pericas, designated leader of UAE Team Emirates GEN Z. Among the Class of 2006 riders, in their first year of category, keep an eye on Jakob Omrzel and Aubin Sparfel, while Italian hopes are also tied to Matteo Scalco, Simone Gualdi and Lorenzo Nespoli.
STAGE HUNTERS AND SPRINTERS
Big names are also on the list of those who will try to take home a stage victory. Among the fast men are Noah Hobbs (7 seasonal wins) and Alessandro Borgo (Gand-Wevelgem winner), with Matteo Milan, Luca Giaimi, Felix Orn Kristoff and Lorenzo Conforti among other sprinters to watch. Suitable for mixed routes are Adrien Boichis, Matisse Van Kerckhove, Mattia Negrente, Pietro Mattio, Pierre-Henry Basset, Dario Igor Belletta, Viktor Soenen, Filippo Turconi, Antione L'Hote, Maxime Decomble, Federico Savino, Samuele Privitera, and Peter Oxenberg, while in the time trial, Jonathan Vervenne, who won the Belgian national title in May, and Callum Thornley, who finished in the top 5 in last year's Aosta time trial, should be closely followed.
