A great evening of cycling and entertainment animated the heart of Pieve di Soligo, which enthusiastically welcomed the Cycling Stars Criterium, now a fixed appointment after the Giro.
It was Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates - XRG) who crossed the finish line first, confirming his talent among the greats of the peloton. On the podium with him were young Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull - BORA - Hansgrohe) and Lorenzo Fortunato (XDS Astana Team), a generous protagonist throughout the race.
The start was given at 21:00, in a packed and engaged Pieve di Soligo, with the public supporting the riders throughout the event with a warmth worthy of great festivals. The athletes animated the race with numerous attacks, with the most important action carried out by the two riders who were protagonists of the San Valentino di Brentonico finish. However, the group always closed down the various breakaway attempts, until three laps from the end when Del Toro, Pellizzari, and Fortunato launched the decisive attack. During the last lap, the Mexican definitively left his companions, winning solo. Behind him, in a two-rider sprint, Pellizzari overtook Fortunato for the last two podium spots.
"I am very happy to be here in Italy with these fantastic fans, the support has always been incredible. The Giro d'Italia went even better than I expected, and I am truly happy about this evening," said Isaac Del Toro.
The Cycling Stars Criterium thus confirms itself as a true "22nd stage" of the Giro d'Italia, an opportunity to celebrate the protagonists of the pink race in a more intimate and festive context, in close contact with enthusiasts.
Appointment for next year, with the promise of another unforgettable evening on the roads of cycling.
