The organizers of the Gran Premio Sportivi in Poggio alla Cavalla, a fraction of the Municipality of Lamporecchio, specifically the Sports Committee with Piero Camelli and his close collaborators and A.S. Mastromarco, did not want to interrupt the tradition and recovered yesterday the junior race not held on Easter Monday due to the death of the Holy Father. On the Three Municipalities circuit (Lamporecchio, Vinci and Cerreto Guidi), 3.450 meters long and repeated for 23 laps for a total of 79.5 kilometers with a final average of 42 kilometers per hour, the seventeen-year-old Lombard Marco Zoco prevailed in what was the diamond wedding edition. The winner managed to break away in the final part of the race with Mugello's Parigi from Pol. Monsummanese from the compact group, and the courageous leading duo maintained a few dozen meters over the peloton, which was regulated five seconds behind for third place by Bolognesi from Team Vangi Il Pirata over Salomone and Ferruzzi, another athlete from Polisportiva Monsummanese. 63 riders participated in the Pistoia race, with 49 completing the fast event. The various accelerations during the 23 laps were always neutralized by the group's reaction, and only the last courageous attempt by the Zoco-Parigi pair was successful. As always, the starting and final gathering was at the Circolo Arci Tamburini in Cerbaia di Lamporecchio, with a short transfer to reach Poggio alla Cavalla, where the official start was given. The Gran Premio Sportivi Poggio alla Cavalla was also valid for the Vescovi Renzo, Circolo Arci Tamburini, Sensi Vigne e Vini, Autodemolizioni Leporatti grand prizes and remembered the unforgettable Mauro Ortigni (passionate organizer for years), Giuliano Baronti and Fabio Camelli, with many prizes at stake.
