The Eternal City will host today the final stage of the 2025 Giro d'Italia, marking the conclusion of one of the most exciting editions of the pink race. Banca Mediolanum, for the 23rd consecutive year official sponsor of the Mountain Grand Prix, accompanies this final milestone by celebrating the success of the "A Tour Within the Tour" initiative, which along the Giro stages has involved clients and cycling enthusiasts in a shared journey of sport, emotions, and participation.
Among the most applauded protagonists of this edition, Lorenzo Fortunato, winner on Zoncolan in 2021, has worn the Blue Jersey since the first stages in Albania, distinguishing himself as one of the most combative riders in the group. The 29-year-old from Bologna of the XDS Astana team has determinedly targeted the Mountain Grand Prix classification promoted by Banca Mediolanum, conquering it stage after stage. Francesco Moser, a symbol of Italian cycling and historic brand ambassador, will award him on the final podium of the Eternal City.
"A Tour Within the Tour" offered clients and enthusiasts the unique opportunity to experience the Giro d'Italia atmosphere, pedaling along the pink race stages and alongside great champions who have made Italian cycling history. This year, over 1,100 people participated in amateur rides, marking an extraordinary participation that demonstrates the growing success of the initiative. A warm and heartfelt response that confirms the strong bond between Banca Mediolanum and the cycling community: an understanding built on passion for sport, sharing, and that authentic emotion that only the Giro d'Italia can offer.
POPE LEON XIV'S GREETING TO THE RIDERS
A particularly significant moment will characterize the final stage: at 3:30 PM, Pope Leon XIV will greet the riders as they pass through Vatican City, emphasizing the importance of sport as a vehicle for universal values.
"STORIES ON TWO WHEELS: A CHAMPION'S WORD"
On the occasion of the final stage in Rome, Banca Mediolanum's testimonials joined together for a final reflection, paying homage to the Eternal City and the profound meaning of the final arrival:
Gianni Motta: "Rome has always represented a special finish line. I remember the emotion of pedaling between history and art, feeling the warmth of the Roman public like applause along the entire road".
Francesco Moser: "Concluding the Giro in Rome is an experience that leaves its mark. Its streets speak of glory, effort, and beauty. Just like cycling".
Dalia Muccioli: "Cycling in Rome is like crossing an open-air museum. Every corner has a story, and feeling part of it is an emotion that remains in the heart".
Alessandro Ballan: "Arriving in Rome has always been synonymous with celebration. The public accompanies you to the end, transforming effort into pride".
Maurizio Fondriest: "Rome is the beating heart of Italy. It closes the Giro, but opens a memory that remains forever".
Paolo Bettini: "When the Giro ends in Rome, you feel that every sacrifice has had meaning. It's the perfect stage for the final applause".
From these emotions was born this year "Stories on Two Wheels: A Champion's Word", the new space curated by Banca Mediolanum. Stage after stage, our testimonials shared memories, anecdotes, and personal connections with the territories crossed by the Giro. A collective narrative, made of roads, effort, and beauty, where every pedal stroke spoke of passion, memory, and pride.
"FRAGILE, BUT POWERFUL". MEDIOLANUM FOUNDATION'S PROJECT FOR THE FUTURE OF CHILDREN WITH NEUROLOGICAL DISABILITIES
In 2025, Mediolanum Foundation renews its commitment to childhood by supporting "Fragile, but Powerful", the new fundraising campaign of the year. The project aims to provide 1,064 children with complex neurological conditions and their families with a personalized rehabilitation and support path, in collaboration with three excellent organizations: Don Gnocchi Foundation, Fight The Stroke Foundation, and TOG Foundation.
"Fragile, but Powerful" targets minors living with cognitive, motor, and communication difficulties, caused by genetic, congenital, or perinatal trauma lesions. The campaign will offer them access to innovative rehabilitation treatments, integrated with traditional techniques, with the goal of bringing out and enhancing their unexpressed potential. The project also includes a dedicated psychological support path for parents, to help them in the delicate task of raising and supporting a child with complex disabilities. This year too, Mediolanum Foundation will double the first 60,000 euros raised, multiplying the impact of each donation.
The Giro d'Italia will be a special opportunity to raise awareness among the public throughout the national territory, bringing the project's message directly to people and promoting a culture of care and inclusion.
