The question bouncing around the caravan, on this night before the third and final rest day, concerns Primoz Roglic and the possibility that, after today's crisis, the Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe captain might leave the Giro d'Italia.
The words of the team's sports director Christian Pömer, released to the Slovenian program Val 202, clearly leave the door open to doubt: "Our doctor will evaluate if Primož can continue".
And it is clearly an admission that Roglic has a physical problem, a problem not explicitly stated but gradually emerging: "In these days we tried to minimize, but the truth came out today, we can no longer hide the fact that Primoz is not feeling well and is in pain. In this stage we saw a great champion fighting with great courage. In Grand Tours, the rule is that it takes a week to recover from a crash: we hoped today would be good, but we saw that Roglic had not recovered".
