The Professional Sports Directors Association (Adispro) expresses deep sorrow for the passing of Enrico Paolini, a former professional cyclist and respected sports director, a central figure in Italian cycling during the Seventies and Eighties.
Born in Pesaro in 1945, Paolini distinguished himself as an athlete of great talent, winning numerous victories including three stages at the Giro d'Italia and a prestigious Italian National Championship title in 1975. A complete and generous rider, he was always appreciated for his combative style and dedication to the team.
After concluding his career as an athlete, he continued his journey in cycling as a sports director, bringing with him experience, expertise, and an extraordinary ability to read a race. In this role, he was able to train and guide entire generations of athletes, passionately transmitting the profession and the most authentic values of the sport. His commitment and vision earned him numerous accolades throughout his career, including the prestigious Golden Helm, awarded by Adispro in recognition of his excellence as a sports director.
"We want to remember Enrico Paolini's integrity," declared Adispro president Davide Goetz. "An incredibly strong rider and excellent director, he had the ability to pass on the profession to colleagues and riders he directed, through his example and generous desire to share knowledge."
Our deepest condolences go to Enrico Paolini's family from the entire Adispro council and members. His figure will forever remain in the hearts of those who love cycling.
