Five years after his victory in the Coppa Sabatini, Dion Smith finds success at the finish line of the NXT Classic. The 32-year-old New Zealander from Intermarché-Wanty beat Dutch rider Frank van den Broek from Team Picnic PostNL and Danish rider Niklas Larsen from Continental Beton Bornholm in a tight sprint. Immediately off the podium was 21-year-old Belgian Milan Lanhove from Team Flanders - Baloise, while Jonathan Vervenne from Soudal Quick-Step and Jelle Johannink from Team Unibet Tietema Rockets crossed the finish line in fifth and sixth positions.

The first six classified athletes were also protagonists of a long breakaway, managing to resist the return of the peloton led by Milan Menten from Lotto.
