ROGLIC'S CHOICES: «GIRO AND TOUR, BUT THE FIFTH VUELTA REMAINS IN MY THOUGHTS»

The Eagle of Zasavje, Primož Roglič's nickname in Slovenia, will start the season in mid-February in Algarve and this time, in addition to the Tour, he will return to the Giro d'Italia. «Usually I always end up participating in the Vuelta, so this time I thought it would be better to participate in the first three-week race of the year and then have the opportunity to race in the other two». So Giro and Tour will be my choice. I think I can do well in both, but especially in the Giro which could have a good route for me. This time I think it's better to start right away with a grand tour and not stretch the season too much with the Vuelta». Roglič has participated in the Tour de France six times so far, finishing fourth in 2018 and second behind Tadej Pogačar two years later. The yellow race has not always been lucky for the Slovenian who often, due to falls, has been forced to withdraw. In the last editions of the Tour he disputed - 2021, 2022, 2024 - he was unable to complete the race. «It wasn't difficult to decide for the Tour either, it would be a shame if I didn't race this year, it's a race I really care about». The 112th edition of the Tour de France will start on July 5th from Lille and end on July 27th in Paris after 3320 kilometers. In the Slovenian's palmares, in addition to the 2023 Giro, there is the success at the Vuelta in Spain in 2019-2020-2021 and 2024. However, participation in the Vuelta is not absolutely excluded to conquer the fifth red jersey, a dream that the Slovenian still wants to achieve. «This is a challenge that fascinates me and of course I am motivated to complete it. This year the plans are different and I have the Giro and the Tour in the foreground. The Vuelta remains in my mind, but now I have other priorities». Roglič's program for 2025 19-23 February: Volta ao Algarve 24-30 March: Volta a Catalunya 9 May - 1 June: Giro d'Italia 5 - 27 July: Tour de France
Al Tour oramai con quei due non ha scampo....
Al Giro in teoria dovrebbe essere il super favorito vedendo i partecipanti degli ultimi anni....Thomas ne e' un esempio

E pensare, che qualche super esperto, disse che via dal team giallo nero, non avrebbe piu' vinto. Infatti !

Comunque a priori, non lo darei per sconfitto al Tour. Vero che attualmente Pogacar e Vingegaard gli sono superiori in salita, ma mai dire mai.

mah, ha superato i 35 e con pogacar evenepoel e vingegaard non ha scampo. Io al suo posto avrei puntato, come ha fatto giustamente l'anno scorso, alle conse non considerate da questi. Fa bene se al girno non ci sarà nessuno dei 3, nonostante l'età avanzata infatti era ancora il migliore dei ciclisti normali nelle grandi corse a tappe, non a caso alla vuelta non c'erano questi 3 (anche se pogacar per me poteva fare la prima tripletta della storia) e ha vinto. Se al giro non ci sono quei 3 può certo tentare una vincita come il piu anziano che abbia mai vinto il giro e così alla vuelta. Per i tour invece è decisamente illuso.
