It is a bittersweet Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali for INEOS Grenadiers. The British team claimed victory in the opening stage with Axel Laurance, currently third in the general classification, but also had to say goodbye prematurely to Davide Frigo.
Crashing during the stage finishing in Massalengo, the 19-year-old from Bassano was forced to withdraw from the race. After being assisted and transported to hospital, the younger brother of Marco from NSN Cycling underwent radiographic examinations that revealed a collarbone fracture. The news was communicated by Team INEOS Grenadiers, specifying that the young rider's condition is being constantly monitored by the medical staff in collaboration with the hospital team.
INEOS Grenadiers is currently racing at the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali with five athletes: this morning Dylan Sage was also forced to withdraw and did not start from Ponte di Piave.
