Just over ten minutes after Filippo d'Aiuto's victory in the second stage of the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, we meet Daniele Calosso, sports director of General Store Fratelli Curia, in the bus parking area at Massalengo. Smiling, he almost anticipates our question and tells us: "Flawless, Filippo was absolutely flawless".
A true finisher's move, the one with which the 24-year-old from Monfalcone outpaced Moschetti and the rest of the group. "Filippo is a courageous rider, he always looks to attack, and today he did it in an important race in front of several Professional and WorldTour teams. He was brilliant," Calosso states.
A victory sought and desired. A success that tastes like redemption, as the winner's coach proudly emphasizes: "I believe that in the final meters today, D'Aiuto put everything he had into the pedals. I'm convinced that everything he went through after the Memorial Polese, where he was disqualified after crossing the finish line ahead of everyone, gave him the determination needed to win today. He has proven to everyone, absolutely everyone, his immense value and his great charisma".
