FDJ Suez claims the first victory of the 2026 season thanks to Ally Wollaston. The 25-year-old New Zealander imposed herself at the end of the opening stage of the Tour Down Under, clearly anticipating the finish line in Willunga ahead of Josie Nelson, British rider from Team Picnic PostNL, and Dutch rider Femke Gerritse from Team SD Worx.
The stage result remained uncertain until the last 300 meters: Alessia Vigilia, now with Uno X Mobility, was the protagonist of an important breakaway that the sprinters' teams only neutralized just before the finish line before launching their sprint.
The first leader's jersey of the general classification, of course, goes to Wollaston, who also takes the lead in the points classification; while Alessia Vigilia wears the mountain classification jersey and Justyna Czapla, a 21-year-old German from CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto, wins the first white jersey of the young riders' classification.
