The path towards the 2026 season for Giovani Giussanesi began in the Ossola mountains. In recent days, the eleven Juniors of the Brianza team, together with the technical staff, were engaged in the first seasonal gathering, where they laid the foundations for the upcoming cycling year.
"It's becoming a fixed appointment, almost a tradition, our season always starts in Ossola" – explains Giampaolo Cheula, who will again lead the team from the team car alongside Giovanni Aloè – "we wanted to gather riders and staff at the Albergo del Ponte in Premia to start working towards the new season".
Before discussing future news and programs, the former professional briefly analyzes the past year: "2025 was super. I and the entire staff are proud of what the guys have achieved. Matteo Piva won the stage in Pordenone at the Giro del Friuli, and to make it even more impressive, we also secured five second places and three bronze medals, not to mention top 10 finishes. I believe – Cheula continues – that these results clearly demonstrate the value of the project initiated years ago by managers Poggiali and Brenna and supported by President D'Aprile and the entire board of directors".
Several "new entries" will wear the white-green-black jersey from January: from Madonna di Campagna will come Brustia; joining Giovani Giussanesi for his second year among Juniors is Acquaviva, born in 2008, coming from Pool Cantù. Added to these are Ietta, from Pedale Ossolano, Milani, from Costamasnaga, and the duo La Scala and Piscetta, from the Giovani Giussanesi youth system.
Keep an eye on Parianotti, an athlete confirmed after this year's brilliant performances. Of him, Cheula says: "He still has much room for growth. He trained in skiing, started mountain biking a couple of years ago, and only this year began road racing, achieving many positive results. We also confirmed De Mercanti, Muraro, Sorci, and Barzanti, who form the team's backbone and will help the newcomers settle in".
Another topic discussed during the two-day retreat in Piedmont was the race calendar. Giampaolo Cheula reveals little but assures that the calendar will be of "Excellent level, as usual we will do the most important Italian races and several competitions abroad. We have received various invitations, and we are immensely grateful to the organizers who contacted us, proposing we participate in their races and appreciating our project".
After the two-day "launch" of the new season and initial mountain walks, the Giovani Giussanesi Juniors will start in earnest, following the training programs prepared by trainer Ruggero Borghi, confirmed in the team's technical staff alongside Bellettati, Miolo, De Marco, and Nucera, who will actively collaborate with the Sports Directors.
